2003 Khalsa Ladies Camp
The experience of Ladies Camp to me...
We come together, sisters in consciousness, sisters in peace, sisters
of inner beauty and outer radiance.
It doesn't matter what make of car you drive or which neighbourhood
your from. There's no line up at the bathroom mirror, it doesn't
matter if you're having a bad hair day.
There's connection beyond the everyday, a shoulder to lean on, a
soul to laugh with, nature and beauty, friends, contemplation, relaxation
and sweet release.
Cradled in safety, allowed to be all, be quiet, be seen, beloved.

Ladies' Camp was one of the most enlightening, different and fascinating
experiences of my 56 year life. The camp itself seemed ideal for
the classes, healing meditations, prayers and chanting.
What struck me first was the welcome heartfully given, and the love
so gratefully received. I have never been in the company of 100
women before, and the whole Yoga experience was completely unfamiliar
to me. However, after just a few hours, I felt I was meant to be
with these women. I felt my consciousness grow, encouraged by the
group, I met individuals I feel are my loving friends, and experienced
their loving healing techniques. The food was incredible, the staff
very helpful. I never heard a cross word, a loud voice, or felt
any negative feelings the whole time. I'm looking forward to returning
again next year.

Every year at Ladie's Camp gets better, and I felt
a greater openness this
year with the women attending. Whether we spoke to each other or
not, there
was a wonderful sense of comradeship and an ecstatic, collective
knowing
that what we had available to us in those precious few days is as
good as it
gets!

Exceptional vibration. Couldn't sleep. Got into
the rhythm. Slowly stretching open. Release. Internal shifting.
Ahhhhh!!!!

This camp was even more incredible then previous years. I learned
and discovered so much about myself and I met and got to know so
many people. I got some turban cloth while I was in little India
and i have been wearing a turban while at home. It feels good. I
have also been doing Sadhana every single morning before school.
That has helped me feel so incredible. Camp is such a great experience.
You discover who you are, but you also get to look yourself in the
face. All the women that are there with you are mirrors and you
realize that we are just human, but that we are women and that is
incredible. Every year it just gets more intense, powerful and even
more incredible. Thank you!
Love always,
Amrit Sadhana
I arrived at the camp feeling definitively human, and left feeling
like a goddess.

Experiences from previous years
Ladies Camp reminded me of all the
beauty, power and wonder I've always had but forgotten. All the
garbage I carry around began to evaporate, I physically and mentally
felt better. It allowed me to see inside myself again. I wish it
was more than once a year.

For
me, this year at Ladies Camp was pure magic. All the natural elements
were there, beautiful sunny days, wonderful food, a gorgeous beach
and forest, but the high vibration of this place went beyond all
of these things. It was created by women who were so grateful to
be there and participate in such an array of uplifting events. The
music, the Gurdwara, all the incredible classes. I deeply thank
Guru Raj and Dharm Kaur for creating such a space, and the cooks
for such glorious food. Along with experiencing the pure bliss of
the meditative space, there is nothing like sharing food and stories
with a group of like-minded women. It has allowed me to bring more
of myself back to my day to day reality.

As I return to my daily life this week, I feel
extremely joyous and blessed to have had the opportunity to experience
Ladies Camp this year. Now I'm back at the busy pace of work and
other commitments my appreciation of this time away increases each
day! Thank you for a beautiful 4 days, and for holding the sacred
space where I was able to heal and explore.
Thank you too for 'pulling strings' and 'plucking' Snatam Kaur away
from her cereal making - she enriched my experience of Sadhana and
chanting so much - her voice is from another realm!
Before following the path of Kundalini yoga, the
thought of spending 4 days surrounded only by women would have had
me running in the opposite direction! I was hung up on frenetic
female energy that brings out insecurities and competitiveness amongst
each other. It wasn't until I'd experienced the feeling of collective
female energy during the Adi Shakti celestial communication at our
retreat on Bowen Island, that I began to understand the beautiful
and sacred space women hold together.
I feel a great peace and appreciation for everything and everyone
in my life since my return, so thank you to all of you who made
this camp such a great experience in serving this space and providing
women the opportunity to heal and grow so we can be true to ourselves
and to the people in our lives.

Thank you so much once again for all that you and
Yoga West do to make Ladies Camp happen. It is such a special and
meaningful highlight of my summer. This year once again, I felt
whole and revitalized by the end of the camp. It was a journey,
as usual.
Jackie
Thank you so much for your generosity and ability
in leading the Khalsa Ladies Camp! It was a very positive and powerful
experience for me, and is with me today. I could go on and on about
my appreciation - I will spare you that - know that I really appreciate
your gift to all of us!
Sat Nam.

In the beginning of camp circle, I had a visual
of the archetype that was containing the camp vision and energy.
She seems very clear and vast. She said, opening her arms wide,
relax unto me and I will take care of it. On the last day of sat
nam rasayan, Snatam started the chant and we were to create a celestial
communication that goes with it. I noticed the change happening
in the group energy and stayed focused on the event. The archetype
was present and she pooled every women's energy as we created it
through the chants. We poured all our purity and sacred wish from
deep of our hearts into the chant and the goddess took it all and
kept increasing our energies to get bigger and bigger. Then she
released the energy into the universe. I felt the effect creating
a tremor in the earth's psyche. Earth was changed that day and all
was affected by it. We created a very profound effect through our
purity and love that was also accompanied by our sorrow and love
for all. Then I saw a thread with the letter X on it. I realised
that this was the chromosome X and we are about to discover the
power locked in it. I was shown that the power of X is that there
is existence because of it. We, women hold the power of allowing
existence itself. I saw this key being given to all the women at
camp and maybe even more women than that. So now, in our psyche
all women are aware of how they allow existence and is the mean
through which God knows he/she is. We are beyond cause and effect,
beyond time and space itself. The world depends upon our sacred
space, stability and wisdom.
I believe that we have changed through this experience and I look
forward to seeing us making profound effects in our lives.
Thank you to all women who poured themselves into the chant and
Snatam for opening that portal for us.
Satnam,
Dharm
Ladies camp was a fun, yet sacred experience.
I am opened up to my "Goddess", and that has changed the
way I feel about myself, and how I relate to the rest of the world.
I respect my grace and radiance like never before, and feel comfortable
and respectful to that of others.

Khalsa Ladies Camp is a retreat like no other.
It is an opportunity for women to connect with their awareness.
It is through this awareness that women can learn to live every
moment of their lives consciously and in complete control. This
past year at camp was truly an awakening of my consciousness. Upon
returning home I realized how much I daydream. Not once while at
ladies camp did I find myself in this "fantasy mind".
The fantasy mind was a way to fill my day with things I wished I
had or things I desired. This was a void within myself wanting to
be filled from things externally. It was this void that repeatedly
sent me spiraling into the fantasy mind and prevented me from maintaining
my awareness. The vibration at ladies camp would not let me "slip"
into my fantasy mind, instead the conscious energy kept me very
much awake and aware. This conscious energy created a very sacred
space. It was this sacred space or vibration which allowed me to
fill the inner void. I wasn't grasping or pulling from "something"
outside of me to satiate the void in my consciousness. There are
so many of us who find ourselves living our lives in "fantasy
land" instead of the land of awareness. We can sleep forever
or wake up and learn how to help ourselves. Not only was the retreat
a time for me to relax, it gave me time to replenish and nurture
my soul so I could be true to myself and to others.

The discovery I made at Ladies Camp was that through
many years of working in the Corporate world, mostly with men, I
had lost "my lady". Being with this group of beautiful,
spiritual woman made me feel a strong draw to reconnect with my
feminine self. It feels lovely to be soft, warm and cozy yet powerful
and centered. This awareness touches everything I say and do. The
wonderful environment, deep in the woods, close to the ocean was
healing on many levels. The food was so amazing and healthy. Camp
changed me in a way that I will always be grateful for, and I will
return at every chance I get. Thank you for helping to make this
a life changing experience for me.
Blessings,
Ajai
